Gorgon LNG Project

Gorgon, operated by Chevron Australia, is the largest single resource project in Australia’s history and one of the world’s biggest LNG developments. Located on Barrow Island off the coast of Western Australia, it includes a three-train 15.6 MTPA LNG facility, a domestic gas plant supplying 300 terajoules per day, and is designed to operate for more than 40 years.

Equilibrium’s senior management team gained extensive experience on the project, holding senior positions with the developer and contractors from the financial investment decision through to the completion of commissioning.

Ichthys LNG Project

Ichthys LNG Project

Developed by INPEX with major partner TotalEnergies and other international participants, Ichthys LNG is one of the world’s most significant energy projects. Located offshore Western Australia, the field holds over 12 trillion cubic feet of gas and 500 million barrels of condensate, with facilities designed to produce 9.3 million tonnes of LNG, 1.65 million tonnes of LPG and 100,000 barrels of condensate per day.
Equilibrium personnel were engaged throughout the project’s construction, supporting the management and administration of offshore, nearshore, and onshore facilities for both main contractors and subcontractors. Their involvement also extended to the development and negotiation of significant commercial claims and disputes.

South Flank Project

South Flank Project

Developed by BHP in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, South Flank is the largest iron ore processing facility in Western Australia, built at a cost of over US$3.6 billion. Designed for a 25-year lifespan, it produces more than 70 million tonnes of iron ore annually and transitioned from a peak construction workforce of 2,500 to around 600 permanent employees. Equilibrium’s senior management team played a critical role in the project, contributing to the development of BHP’s contracting strategy and the successful delivery of major construction contractors. Our personnel worked closely with both the operator and main contractors, providing expertise that was central to managing complex commercial arrangements and ensuring the project’s successful execution.

Wheatstone

Wheatstone

Operated by Chevron, the Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource developments and the country’s first LNG hub, located near Onslow in Western Australia. Its onshore facilities include two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 MTPA and a domestic gas plant, with first production commencing in 2017. Equilibrium’s senior management team played an important role in the project’s commercial success. Our personnel were directly involved in the commercial management of the LNG jetty facilities on behalf of the main contractors, as well as overseeing contract accounts for onshore facilities on behalf of the operator. By providing specialist expertise and hands-on support, Equilibrium helped ensure effective contract administration, robust commercial outcomes, and smooth delivery of critical project infrastructure.

Gudai Darri Iron Ore

Gudai Darri Iron Ore

Developed by Rio Tinto, Gudai-Darri is one of the world’s most advanced mines, featuring autonomous haul trucks, mine automation systems, and a fully automated laboratory. Supported by a 34 MW solar plant and new 100 km rail line, the operation achieved record production in 2024 while advancing sustainability and innovation in mining. Equilibrium’s senior management team played a pivotal role in the delivery of the rail infrastructure on behalf of the construction contractor. Our personnel were also deeply involved in the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of major commercial claims and disputes. This hands-on expertise not only supported the successful delivery of a critical element of the project but also safeguarded commercial outcomes for our clients.

METRONET Projects

METRONET Projects

METRONET is the largest public transport investment in Western Australia’s history, delivering 72 km of new rail and 23 stations to reshape how Perth connects and grows. Equilibrium has supported key projects including the Thornlie-Cockburn Link, Yanchep Rail Extension, Bayswater Station, and the Armadale Line upgrade, providing expertise through tendering, engineering, and construction. By embedding expertise across these milestone projects, Equilibrium helped clients balance competing pressures of time, cost, and quality—delivering outcomes aligned with METRONET’s long-term vision. The collaborative approach ensured smoother project delivery, reduced risks, and provided the technical and operational support needed at every stage.

Scarborough Energy Project

Scarborough Energy Project

Woodside is developing the Scarborough gas field, located 375 km off Western Australia's coast. The project involves the installation of a floating production unit and a 430 km pipeline to transport gas to the Pluto LNG onshore facility, where it will be processed through both the existing Pluto Train 1 and a new Pluto Train 2 facilities. Equilibrium’s involvement was instrumental in supporting contractors during the offshore execution phase. Equilibrium’s consistent support created commercial stability during high-pressure phases of delivery, adding measurable value to the successful advancement of one of Western Australia’s most significant energy developments.

Barossa LNG Project

Barossa LNG Project

The Barossa Project, led by Santos, is a natural gas extraction project located 285 km offshore from Darwin. Gas from up to eight subsea wells will be processed at a floating facility before being transported by pipeline for further processing at the existing Darwin LNG facility. Equilibrium is actively supporting offshore installation and construction contractors, providing strategic management of complex commercial issues and overseeing the administration of major contracts. A dedicated staff member has also been seconded into the project team, ensuring hands-on support and adding significant value to the ongoing success of this complex subsea development.

Western Ridges Crusher

Western Ridges Crusher

BHP is developing the Western Ridges Crusher Project to build new iron ore processing and transportation infrastructure. Key works include a new primary crusher and a 12km conveyor to move ore from the Mount Helen and Silver Knight deposits to the Newman West processing hub. Equilibrium’s involvement provides BHP with specialist expertise in contract strategy and execution, ensuring commercial risks are effectively managed. Dedicated Equilibrium staff members embedded within the project team provided hands-on support, adding real value to the successful progression of this significant development.

Kwinana Energy Recovery Project

The Kwinana Energy Recovery project, located 30 km south of Perth, Western Australia, stands as Australia's inaugural facility to integrate the recovery and reuse of non-recyclable waste with electricity generation. This innovative project delivers renewable baseload power to a major metropolitan area and a significant industrial hub. Equilibrium assisted in the review and assessment of multiple contract claims for delay and disruption.

East Rockingham Waste to Energy

East Rockingham Waste to Energy

The East Rockingham Waste to Energy project in Western Australia is a new recourse recovery facility designed to process over 300,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually. The facility will generate 29 MW of renewable power, supplying electricity to more than 36,000 homes and displacing over 300,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Equilibrium is providing commercial support to the project's engineering, procurement and construction contractor.

Port Debottlenecking Project 2

Port Debottlenecking Project 2

BHP's Port Debottlenecking Project 2 aims to expand the company's iron ore port capacity to 330 Mtpa. Located at Nelson Point within Port Hedland, the project includes constructing a new car dumper, a new product stacker, and a freshwater recovery plant, as well as upgrading existing ship loaders and a rescreening plant.
Equilibrium has supported the project by providing contracts, commercial and construction management support to BHP during the development phase of the project and in the tendering, negotiation and award of the EPCM project.

South Erregulla Peaking Power Plant

South Erregulla Peaking Power Plant

Strike is developing a conventional gas and power development project to support the Southwest Interconnected System in Western Australia's mid-West region. The project will include an 85 MW gas-fired power station, consisting of 20 reciprocating generators fed by the nearby SE-01 wellhead. Equilibrium provided commercial and contract support during the engineering and construction phases of the project.

KCGM Growth Project

KCGM Growth Project

Northern Star Resources (NSR) is developing the KCGM Growth Project which will boost the Fimiston Plant’s throughput from 13 Mtpa to 25.5 Mtpa with a new process circuit integrated into the existing facility. NSR awarded Primero an EPC contract for the design, procurement, and construction for the processing plant upgrade. Equilibrium is supporting the project by providing commercial and contract management support.

Snowy Hydro 2.0

Snowy Hydro 2.0

The Snowy 2.0 pumped-hydro energy storage project was a national infrastructure initiative designed to act as the "battery of the nation." It linked the Tantangara and Talbingo reservoirs with 27 kilometers of tunnels and an underground power station to provide flexible, on-demand power. The project used surplus renewable energy to pump water to an upper dam and then released it to generate power during peak demand, adding 2,200 megawatts of capacity to the grid.
Equilibrium's personnel were involved in the tendering, negotiation, and contract award phases for both the civil and electrotechnical works. By participating in the joint venture arrangements, Equilibrium helped to establish the foundational commercial agreements, ensuring the project's massive scale and complexity were managed with a high degree of precision and foresight.
